Reflection: My philosophy on teaching and learning are similar. The most effective way to teach and learn is be directly teach details, and then to take that knowledge and do something to solidify that learning. In between their should be a lot of questions, testing one-self and exploration of ideas. Student's should work collaboratively together, building knowledge from each other, with support of a teacher. Student's should have choice on what they would like to learn and do, but have limitations to adhere with government standards.
This project, reflects all of those ideas. Students get pre-tests on the lesson and thus need to read-up, the night before. I then give a short lecture. The project comes soon after the first lesson, so that students get plenty of time to complete the assignment. Students get a choice of a partner and what kind of project they would like to do. Further lessons on space may educe an idea on what to create, but students get a list of standards and their meanings before had. Students get plenty of class time, to work, collaborate and learn from one-another. Often the projects are amazing to look at and are full of learning.
